My Take on the Hymnal ... from Milburn Price

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as one of the editors for Celebrating Grace: Hymnal for Baptist Worship. This hymnal will provide for Baptists a new collection of congregational songs rich with diversity. There will be an abundance of both "head songs" (hymns and other songs that offer thought-provoking spiritual insights into our faith) and "heart songs" (hymns and songs that stir our emotions). While remaining anchored by the traditional hymnody and gospel songs that have been part of Baptist hymn singing for decades, there will be added a treasury of new texts and tunes in traditional forms, songs from global sources, and selected texts and tunes from contemporary worship sources. Hopefully, this collection will be warmly and enthusiastically received and used by congregations for whom the hymnal is still an important worship resource.
