Olivia Cresswell sets a prayer in rich, harmonic colors for our armed forces. Beginning with a drum march and bugle call, the curtain rises as we see “soldiers stand” in their near or far-off stations. Harmonic textures build until a canon-like section culminates in a plea to “bring them home with hope and honor.” The stirring piece concludes in a meditative return of the original theme. This anthem would enrich any Memorial or Patriotic service or concert with its respectful, reflective depth.
